Flat Fee Business Lawyer in New Jersey and New York
BigLaw Training. Transparent Pricing. No Billing Surprises.
One of the first questions every business owner asks is: "What will this cost me?" At Russo Law LLC, that's a fair question with a straight answer.
We offer flat fee pricing for most business transactions and contracts — so you know your total legal cost before we begin. For matters that cannot be scoped in advance, we offer capped fees and hourly rates that are approximately half the rate charged by the large New York and national law firms where founder Lou Russo trained and practiced.
As a flat fee business lawyer serving New Jersey and New York clients, our goal is simple: you should always know what you are spending before you spend it.
What Is a Flat Fee Legal Arrangement?
A flat fee arrangement means you pay one fixed price for a defined scope of work — not an hourly rate that grows with every phone call and email. Before any work begins, Russo Law LLC provides a written fee proposal stating exactly what is included and what the total cost will be.
For business owners buying or selling a company, reviewing vendor contracts, or setting up a new entity, flat fee pricing eliminates the uncertainty that makes many business owners hesitate to call a lawyer in the first place.

How Flat Fee Billing Works at Russo Law LLC
- Free Consultation — We discuss your matter, define the scope, and determine whether it qualifies for flat fee pricing.
- Written Fee Proposal — You receive a written proposal stating the flat fee, exactly what is included, and any exclusions. No work begins until you approve it.
- Electronic Engagement — The engagement letter is signed electronically. The flat fee is paid securely via LawPay or ClioPay through ACH, debit, credit card or ApplePay.
- Work Begins — Lou Russo handles your matter personally. All communications reasonably necessary to complete the work are included in the flat fee.
- No Surprise Invoices — Any work outside the agreed scope requires your prior written approval before it is billed.
What About Matters That Cannot Be Quoted at a Flat Fee?
Some matters — such as active litigation, extended contract negotiations, or complex disputes — cannot be reliably scoped in advance. For those matters, Russo Law LLC bills hourly at rates significantly below the AmLaw100 firms where Lou Russo trained.
For businesses that need ongoing legal support at a predictable monthly cost, the Russo Law LLC Outside General Counsel Program offers flat monthly retainers starting at $250 per month, with discounted hourly rates and flat fee discounts for all program members.
Frequently Asked Questions — Flat Fee Business Lawyer New Jersey
Do you offer flat fees for buying a business in New Jersey?

Contact us for a written quote — most can be provided within 24 hours.
What is included in a flat fee?
The flat fee covers all work necessary to produce the agreed deliverable, including all communications — calls, emails, and video — reasonably necessary to complete it.
Additional rounds of negotiation, redlining, or work outside the agreed scope require prior written approval and are billed at the applicable hourly rate.
How do your rates compare to larger law firms?
Russo Law LLC's hourly rates are approximately half the rate charged by the AmLaw100 firms — Proskauer Rose, Winston & Strawn, Alston & Bird, and others — where Lou Russo trained and practiced for most of his career.
Flat fee pricing eliminates hourly billing entirely for eligible matters.
Do I need a large law firm to buy a small business in New Jersey?
No. Most small to mid-size business purchases in New Jersey do not require a large law firm — and using one often means paying significantly more for the same work.
Russo Law LLC provides the same level of sophisticated legal counsel at a fraction of the cost, with the added benefit of working directly with the founding attorney who has been practicing law for nearly 20 years on every matter.
How quickly can we get started?
Usually within 24 to 48 hours. The entire engagement process is electronic and can be completed on any device.
